Chief Officer Dredging & Infra [Netherlands]


 
The position
For our fleet we are looking for 1st Mates, with experience working on Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers. As Chief Officer for our dredging vessels, you need to have extensive experience in dredging and you are used to keeping watch. You are responsible for the efficiency of production. And you maneuver where the 2nd mate operates the pipes during dredging. You are also responsible for maneuvering during unloading at sea and have experience with all different ways of unloading.
Your responsibilities
  • The Chief Officer is responsible for all navigation duties. In a team, sailing is done in a safe, maritime, correct/responsible and environmentally friendly manner.

  • You are in charge of all operations on board.
  • Onboard environmental regulations and the maintenance of safety equipment (ISM & ISPS) are very important to Van Oord and you ensure that our high safety standards are met.
  • You will consult and advise the Captain on a daily basis about methods to optimize the production process. In addition, you are involved in training and coaching 3rd Mate and trainees on board, so that you can transfer your knowledge in a motivating way.
  • The ship's administration must be kept according to Van Oord standards, which is also part of your daily tasks.
Job requirements

Do you have a maritime education on intermediate or higher level, and/or do you have solid practical experience as an officer of the navigational watch on board? Don't hesitate to apply!


Further requirements regarding STCW courses are applicable and next to the legal requirements, the Chief Officer will have to complete all Van Oord required training. Working internationally isn't a problem for you, seeing as our operations are taking place worldwide. This means you are also able to communicate in the English language on an accurate professional level.
