Improvement Advisor – Patient Safety [United States]


 

Comagine Health is looking for a remote Improvement Advisor based in the Mountain West states. In this role, you will work on federal and state-based contracts supporting nursing homes in enhancing their quality improvement expertise and in building the capacity of nursing home staff. You will build relationships with nursing home facilities and community partners, raising awareness of the services we provide. You will engage with teams of varying sizes enabling you to develop and enhance different skill sets.


An integral part of the Systemwide Quality Improvement (SQI) division at Comagine Health, you will provide consulting and technical assistance to a variety of health care and community stakeholders. You will have an excellent understanding of quality improvement concepts, tools, and techniques and how to apply them as an independent coach or part of a team. This position reports to the Director of Patient Safety.

Who is the Comagine Health?

Comagine Health is a non-profit consulting firm that seeks to improve health and to increase the effectiveness and quality of health care. As a recognized Quality Improvement Organization (QIO), we support providers, plans, purchasers, and consumers, and offer services to state and federal agencies and others to help them better manage health care under the existing system and to assess, plan for and implement broader system transformation. We collaborate with academic, government, and nonprofit partners on initiatives funded by NIH, CDC, AHRQ, BJA, SAMHSA, and others. In short, we are changing healthcare at a fundamental level.


SQI encompasses a broad portfolio of contracts and grants, organized into three primary service lines (practice transformation, patient safety and community engagement) serving clients including federal and state governments and private institutions. The SQI team includes quality improvement and public health experts who apply their skills to improve the delivery of health care across a variety of settings.


Preferred candidates will have the following expertise and background:

  • Nursing home experience.
  • Project management.
  • Quality improvement.
  • Improvement science.
  • Strong written and presentation skills.

What you’ll be doing for us:

  • Consultation and delivery of technical assistance including collaborating with internal team members as well as external partners/stakeholders to improve health care delivery systems, processes, and outcomes efficiently and effectively. Provide coaching on data collection, quality improvement metrics, designing and implementing quality improvement interventions, and documenting activities in technology solutions.
  • Training and subject matter expertise, continually developing basic to intermediate subject matter expertise on relevant topic areas such as patient safety, behavioral health, quality improvement science, and infection control.
  • Stakeholder engagement and convening on QI initiatives, outreach, managing recruitment plans, convening stakeholders, associations, and partners; representing Comagine Health to others, coordinating with associations and community organizations.
  • Project management including developing project plans, tracking activities, leading a team monitoring deployment of interventions to ensure program effectiveness, and reporting on the project progress.

Competencies:

  • Comprehensive understanding of health care reform initiatives/environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Familiarity with videoconference technology (e.g. Zoom).
  • Ability to organize and coordinate multiple simultaneous tasks in a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of quality improvement methods and tools.
  • Familiarity with health care terminology.
  • Familiarity with health care clinical and operational workflows.
  • Proficiency with project management concepts (e.g. project plans.
  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and/or Microsoft Teams (Preferred).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in health care, public health, or a related field (an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience in a related field may be substituted).
  • 4 years of experience in health care, including quality improvement in health care settings.
  • 2 years of project management experience.

Candidates must reside in the Mountain West states. Travel of up to 25% may be required.


Desired Qualifications:

  • MA/MS in public health, nursing, health care administration, public policy, or any other related field.
  • Registered Nurse.
  • Community convening experience.
  • CPHQ or CPPS Certification.

Salary Range: $73,000 - $95,000

The salary range posted reflects the range that Comagine is willing to pay for this position. Salary is determined by many factors, including but not limited to geographic location of where the employee will perform their job duties in addition to their knowledge, skills, education, and relevant work experience.
