The position
You will work in our research organization in the Communication Group. Guided tours are offered for school students, university students and scientist, as well as interested non-scientists. Tours are offered in English or German and mostly takes place on weekdays between 09:00 and 17:00. Specific tasks for tour guides include:
- Giving an introductory talk on the European XFEL facility, how it works and the research conducted here
- Guiding tours of the experiment hall, providing information and answering questions
- Assist with administrative tasks concerning visitor tours
- Representing European XFEL at external events
Requirements
- Current enrollment as a university student (Bachelor, master or Doctor) in a subject related to European XFEL, including physics, chemistry, structural biology, materials science, or science teaching in the Hamburg area
- Interest in guiding school and university students as well as members of the public at European XFEL
- Ability to communicate the science (esp.physics) behind the facility in an easy-to-understand way as well as to speak in fron of larger groups
- Fluency in German and a working knowledge of English (ability to lead tours in both languages is considered an asset)
